Greater Flamingo: This bird is found in  North Sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian sub-continent south of the Himalaya's, Middle East, Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Aiden, the Levant, the Red Sea and on the Mediterranean in Southern Europe.

Habitat: Found in mainly salt lakes and lagoons, sometimes in very alkaline lakes, this flamingo only uses fresh water for bathing and drinking.

Breeding: This bird builds its nest from a pile of dried mud, it incorporates a variety of other materials, with a circular hole. and cup at the top of the pile. If mud isn't available a small suitably shaped pile of stones is used instead, and the cup is lined with hair and feathers.. A single egg is laid, and takes about a month to hatch.

Comment: This bird is one of several Flamingo species, and is the largest flamingo species. The pinkest coloured species are the Chilean and Andean Flamingos.Their call is similar to the honking of a goose.
